Key Responsibilities
- Material Collection & Sorting: Gather and sort materials, ensuring only recyclable items suitable for baling are prepared.
- Loading: Load sorted recyclable materials into the baler’s hopper or feeding chamber, utilising conveyor belts or mechanical systems as needed.
- Compression: Monitor the baler as the powerful hydraulic ram compresses materials into dense blocks.
- Binding & Tying: Position binding materials (e.g., steel wires or straps) around the compacted materials, and perform tying, which may involve using wire cutters or overseeing automated systems.
- Ejection: Oversee the ejection of completed bales from the machine onto a platform or conveyor belt.
- Removal and Transport: Manually remove or use handling equipment to transport bales from the storage area, stacking and securing them for transportation to recycling facilities or further storage.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organised work area.
Qualifications
- Physical Ability: Must be able to stand for long periods.
- Repetitive Motion: Ability to get involved in repetitive motions such as bending, stooping, squatting, pushing, and pulling of parts and part containers.
