1. Senior Marine Structural Engineer

Parsons is now hiring an experienced Senior Marine Structural Engineer with a desire to work on maritime infrastructure projects that change the fabric of their communities.

In this role, you will determine methods and solutions for complex engineering problems and selects the most efficient and economical manner to meet the objectives.

The successful candidate applies advanced engineering techniques and analyses within a discipline and may serve as a technical consultant in the area of speciality for management or the client.

Responsibilities

• Works independently with the assigned tasks under the guidance of the principal engineer.
• May function as a discipline Project Marine Engineer on small to medium projects, assuming responsibility for leading marine works designs.
• Leads other Engineers and design personnel in technical excellence and growth in the Quality Improvement Process.
• Provides technical consultations for interdisciplinary analytical studies and analyses.
• Ensures compliance of marine and coastal design with all applicable codes and regulations.
• Scopes surveys, studies, and site investigations for marine and coastal developments
• Maintains affiliation with professional societies to keep abreast of current technologies.
• Helps determine budget estimates and staffing requirements for the defined scope and schedule. May assist with other administrative and technical duties.
• Recommends and prepares technical papers.
• Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of bachelor’s degree in (Civil/Structural) Engineering and 10+ years of related work experience in marine structural and coastal engineering.
• Ability to perform in a lead capacity, excellent English written and oral communications skills, and a familiarity with industry practices and regulations
• Must thoroughly know current marine and coastal engineering design standards and guidelines.
• Ability to independently design marine structures such as quay walls, piers, and floating structures.
• Port-related experience, particularly container terminal experience, is an advantage.
• Experience with local approving authorities for marine and coastal works in GCC is an advantage.

2. Principal Transportation Engineer/Modeler

Responsibilities:

• Preparation of traffic study reports and impact analysis reports for various road and development projects.
• Conducting Traffic Studies for major road infrastructure projects involving transportation demand modelling, traffic operations analysis, and public transit planning based on MOTC-LTPD guidelines and procedures for transport studies.
• Update Transport Models and development of conceptual road designs, perform conventional and complex engineering assignments, applying engineering techniques and analyses within a discipline.
• Carrying out demand forecasting and transport model analysis is required to assist with the traffic impact studies.
• Work closely with related teams and develop traffic congestion management plans by providing data and technical support as needed.
• Performing microsimulation modelling analysis for road intersections corridors, bus facilities, and development sites.
• Preparation and coordination of data collection tasks required for traffic studies, including traffic count surveys.
• Provides input and technical guidance to traffic engineers and CAD Designers/Drafters, Designers working on the same project.
• Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Requirements:

• Degree in civil/transportation engineering from a recognized institution
• Minimum 15 years of experience in traffic operations and analysis of various traffic projects, preferably in the Gulf region.
• Potential to perform in a lead capacity, excellent written and oral communications skills, and a familiarity with industry practices and regulations are required
• Must possess a thorough knowledge of current technology and be able to select and apply appropriate engineering software for use on a project
• A strong understanding of transport modelling, demand forecast, and multi-modal methodologies
• Must have in-depth experience with Traffic Impact Studies, Traffic Operational Analysis
• Must have a thorough working knowledge of traffic analysis tools such as SYNCHRO, VISUM, VISSIM, HCS, and other traffic engineering–modelling software
• Must have experience in parking management, parking demand, and supply, parking design within buildings, traffic circulations, determining the number of accesses/egresses
• Familiar with UAE and local standards such as Roads & Transport Authority of Dubai guidelines and procedures for transport studies
• Excellent report writing skills and preparation of presentations.
• Must have excellent written and oral communications skills in English
