Full Job Description

The responsibility of a Data Analyst is to analyze, synthesize data into meaningful insights and use data to create predictive models using machine learning algorithms and advanced statistical analysis. A Data Analyst must work closely with the stakeholders to identify issues and propose data-driven solutions that help achieve the university’s objectives. The findings have to be communicated effectively to aid in critical decisions.

Job-Specific Responsibilities

• Work with the stakeholders to identify opportunities and needs to deliver and propose solutions for effective decision-making.
• Perform data mining and analyze data from different information systems to discover the trends and patterns in data
• Use machine learning algorithms and statistical methods to create actionable plans and provide solutions to the challenges.
• Produce executive reports for the relevant stakeholders with clear recommendations and insights
• Use predictive modeling and not limited to improve student performance and retention; identify at-risk students and the predicted outcome for the student; predict future rankings of the university and assess the area for the scope of improvement.

Basic Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Data Science, Data Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or related discipline
• Minimum of 7 years of experience as a Data Scientist/Statistician or in a similar role

Technical Skills

• Proficiency with different machine learning algorithms, advanced analytics, and data mining techniques.
• Strong understanding of mathematics and statistics
• Working knowledge of programming languages such as R, Python and database query languages such as SQL using Oracle, SQL Server, and SQL query tools like TOAD, SQL Developer
• Proficiency in statistical software such as SPSS; advanced knowledge of statistical methods and techniques (regression, statistical tests, distributions, etc.) and experience in statistical analysis
• Ability to interpret and assess data, analyze trends, and forecasting using regression and other methods of statistical modeling
• Strong report writing skills and the ability to translate technical content into an understandable and compelling report
• Knowledge of data warehouse solutions and data lake
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS/Azure

• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Analytical and aptitude in problem-solving with great attention to detail
• Ability to work under indirect supervision
• Practical interpersonal skills and collaborative management style to include teamwork and team-building ability.
• Comfortable with ambiguity and time spent outside of comfort zone acquiring new skills
