Business Development Manager 

Location: Apapa, Lagos

Key Responsibilities:

Sales Management:

  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to meet branch targets.

  • Coach staff on product knowledge and cross-selling techniques.

  • Coordinate cross-selling with other departments (corporate solutions, PMS, EFT, virtual banking, etc.).

  • Conduct marketing team meetings to review past performance and plan ahead.

  • Oversee new marketing initiatives, including branch expansions.

  • Drive commercial success and peak performance across relationship officers.

  • Ensure high data quality standards for accurate customer and transaction information.

  • Manage sales operational efficiency and staff productivity.

  • Oversee risk management for customer portfolios ensuring credit quality and compliance.

  • Collaborate with operations and risk teams to deliver quality products and services.

  • Operate within approved delegations responsibly.

Customer Service:

  • Understand customer base and identify growth opportunities.

  • Manage branch resources to uphold high customer service standards.

  • Supervise complaint handling, address root causes to prevent recurrence.

People Management:

  • Build organizational capabilities by identifying future skills needs and providing development opportunities.

  • Retain and develop relevant skills aligned with business needs.

  • Ensure effective recruitment by matching skills to job requirements.

  • Conduct skills assessments and competency-based training.

  • Foster an environment that values learning and development.


Requirements:

  • Minimum of a First Degree in any discipline. Additional qualifications are a plus.

  • 12 to 15 years of relevant experience in sales and marketing.

  • Professional certification: CIBN (Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria).

  • Strong digital literacy.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Commitment to excellent customer service.

  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Leadership and team management skills.
