Job Summary:

Virgin Forest Energy is seeking a strategic, experienced Chief Security Officer (CSO) to lead and manage all aspects of the company’s physical and digital security. The CSO will develop and implement policies to protect personnel, assets, and information, while ensuring compliance with regulatory and operational standards in a high-risk energy environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Security Strategy & Risk Management

• Develop and execute holistic security strategies aligned with business goals.

• Assess and mitigate organizational threats—physical and cyber.

• Advise executive leadership on all security matters.

• Monitor KPIs to evaluate security effectiveness.

Physical Security & Access Control

• Protect facilities, depots, and personnel using surveillance, access control, and emergency protocols.

• Coordinate with law enforcement and private security forces, especially in high-risk/remote areas.

• Ensure Port Facility Security compliance.

Cybersecurity & Crisis Response

• Collaborate with IT to implement strong cybersecurity measures.

• Lead responses to cyber or physical breaches.

• Develop and update crisis and incident response plans.

• Conduct drills and post-incident reviews.

Policy, Compliance & Training

• Draft and enforce security policies, procedures, and standards.

• Ensure regulatory compliance (local, national, and industry-specific).

• Train employees on security awareness and protocol adherence.Stakeholder & Vendor Management

• Build strong relations with local communities, regulators, and government agencies.

• Manage third-party security providers and technology vendors.

• Oversee procurement and deployment of security tools and systems.

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as CSO in Oil & Gas (especially depot operations).

• Military/paramilitary background (Nigerian Army) is mandatory.

• HND/Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, or a related field.

• Fluency in Ibibio and Efik is a strong advantage.

• Must be based in or near Akwa Ibom.

• Familiarity with Port Facility Security regulations is a plus.

• Strong leadership, decision-making, and crisis-handling skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
