Aker Carbon Capture is one of the leading companies globally that has extensive knowledge of the entire CCUS value chain. We have many ongoing projects, from concept studies to large EPC, both in Europe and in the United States. Today, we are delivering seven carbon capture units in Europe, with an accumulated capture capacity of 1 million tonnes of CO2. In Denmark, we are delivering five Just Catch 100 units to Ørsted, in the Netherlands one Just Catch 100 unit to Twence, and in Norway a Big Catch to Heidelberg Materials.

The Construction HSSE Manager is part of Construction Management Team in direct collaboration with the HSSEQ team, which is jointly responsible for achieving the Project’s Objectives related to HSSE, Cost and Schedule.

Construction HSSE Manager will take active part in making sure that the fabrication and installation work activities provided by Contractors / Subcontractors on Site, meet the Project’s set of Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental Requirements.

This is a hired- in role of one year with possibility to extend according to project progress.

Accountabilities

 

  • Project HSSE Policies and Procedures: Promote, maintain, and give input for update of any site-specific health, safety, security, and environmental requirements to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards
  • Safety Inspections: Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards, unsafe conditions, and non-compliance with safety standards. Take immediate actions when necessary and report to the Site Manager for corrective actions
  • Training and Orientation: Organize and provide training and guidelines for all site personnel to educate them on safety protocols, procedures, and best practices (ex: Toolbox Talks, Induction Trainings, Drills)
  • Incident Investigation: Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and security breaches, identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventive actions to prevent their recurrence
  • Emergency Response Planning: Promote, maintain, and request update on project emergency response plans and procedures to address potential risks and ensure the safety and security of site personnel
  • Safety Culture Promotion: Promote a culture of safety and environmental consciousness among all site personnel, leading by example and promoting safety awareness and accountability
  • Safety Equipment and Supply Management: Manage and maintain safety equipment, including personal protective equipment (PPE) and first aid supplies, ensuring they are readily available and in good condition
  • Reporting and Communication: Prepare and submit regular reports on HSSE performance and incidents to project HSSE management and communicate safety-related updates and changes to site personnel and contractors
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with site and HSSE managers, suppliers, subcontractors, client, and other stakeholders to ensure the consistent application of HSSE standards and address safety concerns. Participate in safety and coordination meetings with the different stakeholders when required
  • Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and organized records related to safety and environmental matters, ensuring accessibility and transparency according to HSE plan requirements and use of system provided by Project HSE Manager
  • Waste Management: Handling and waste sorting according to local guidelines including recording statement of waste quantities

Knowledge/Skills Required

 

  • Good knowledge and competence within the Construction area
  • Understanding of the construction site works and HSSEQ rules
  • Strong knowledge of European Safety and Environmental regulations
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Experience Required

 

  • Previous operational experience within HSSE work at site
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience
  • Experience in collaboration with Clients, subcontractors and other representatives at site

Educational Background Required

 

  • Technical background, relevant work experience may supersede educational requirements
  • HSE Training (first aid)
  • Fluent in English and Danish
  • Denmark: must have completed the Danish Health and Safety Training Programme
