Job Purpose:

The Credit, Risk & Recovery Manager is responsible for managing the full credit lifecycle of the bank—from origination to recovery—ensuring regulatory compliance, minimizing non-performing loans (NPLs), and safeguarding portfolio quality. This role is pivotal in shaping the bank’s risk posture and maintaining financial stability.


Key Responsibilities:

Credit Management:

  • Develop and enforce credit policies in line with CBN regulations and risk appetite

  • Review and approve/recommend loan applications after proper risk evaluation

  • Oversee credit appraisal and ensure sound creditworthiness assessments

  • Monitor loan disbursement, repayment trends, and portfolio performance

Risk Management:

  • Identify and manage credit, operational, and market risks

  • Conduct stress testing, credit reviews, and periodic portfolio analysis

  • Maintain a detailed risk register and advise management on risk mitigation

  • Ensure compliance with internal limits and regulatory guidelines

Recovery & Collections:

  • Design and execute loan recovery strategies and collection policies

  • Supervise delinquent account recovery, including legal escalations if needed

  • Engage borrowers for restructuring or proactive loan resolution

  • Minimize loan losses and optimize recovery rates

Reporting & Compliance:

  • Generate reports on credit exposure, delinquency, and recoveries

  • Ensure timely regulatory submissions and audit readiness

  • Support internal/external audits on credit and risk matters


Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Portfolio at Risk (PAR) and NPL ratio

  • Loan recovery and restructuring success rates

  • Credit approval speed and turnaround time

  • Audit compliance and regulatory reporting accuracy

  • Effectiveness of risk controls and mitigation efforts


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field (Master’s preferred)

  • Professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CFA, CIBN) are a plus

  • 5–10 years’ experience in credit, risk management, and debt recovery

  • Strong grasp of credit scoring, financial analysis, and loan documentation

  • Knowledge of CBN and financial regulations

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills

  • Integrity, analytical thinking, and proactive decision-making
