Drafter

Job Summary:

A Drafter creates engineering designs, drawings, and other technical information for use in manufacturing, construction, and fabrication. Their duties include creating traditional designs from preliminary sketches, verifying that drawings meet required specifications, and creating technical documents and reports. Hoskinson Contracting is looking for a drafter to support our design team. We are a new forward thinking contracting company with top of the line programs and tools to support its employees and customers.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Uses computer-aided drafting (CAD) software to create full-scale and detailed designs of buildings and interiors from an architect’s rough drawings
• Studies building codes and regulations and determines how they will affect architectural designs
• Organizes structural, electrical, and mechanical designs
• Draws plans for foundations, buildings, and structures based on instructions provided by engineers and architects
• Visits jobsites to gather data needed to complete designs
• Determines the types of materials needed and calculates the quantity to be ordered
• Working with an architect, generates costs estimates, contracts, and other documents required for individual projects
• Performs other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Extensive knowledge of CAD software and other architectural drafting tools
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Education and Experience:

• Associate’s degree in Drafting required
• Three years of related experience required

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Must be able to access and navigate all areas of construction sites
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
