Job Description

Requirements

• Minimum Experience Level: Over 3 years
• Career Level: Mid Career
• Minimum English Level: Fluent
• Minimum Japanese Level: None
• Minimum Education Level: Bachelor’s Degree
• Visa Status: Permission to work in Japan required

Assessment

• Follow the TIS Assessment Philosophy, maintain records of student assessments, and sharethis with students, parents, and school administrators when requested.
• Administer tracking folder assessments three times a year.
• Teachers of Grades 4 and 6 prepare students and support the administration of the ISA Assessment each October.

Communication

• Maintain open, transparent communication with colleagues.
• Open and honest communication with parents regularly, including newsletters, report cards, Parent-teacher conferences, email, and face-to-face.

Instruction

• Deliver engaging instruction to students that follow TIS’ Program of Inquiry.
• Create an inviting classroom environment with displays, bulletin boards, and positive
• student interactions that include the unit title, central idea, and lines of inquiry.
• Support students with pastoral care as necessary.
• Integrate technology into lessons where appropriate.
• Seek and plan appropriate field trip opportunities which support Units of Inquiry.
