The Video Entertainment segment of Naspers is a broad-based multinational media group headquartered in South Africa and Dubai with principal operations in pay television and video entertainment. The group operates in almost 50 countries in Africa. Its holding company, Naspers, is listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) and has an ADR listing on the London Stock Exchange (LSE). International investors account for around 50% of its shareholder base.

 

An African platform operator, Video Entertainment’s expertise lies distributing media products, creating media content and selling advertising. Its key areas of operations are:

  • Television: direct-to-home satellite and digital terrestrial television services; and
  • subscription video on demand services across multiple online platforms with a focus on library and local content in developing markets

 

Purpose of the role:

 

Supporting the HC Business Partner in the execution of the business and people strategies and deliver efficient and cost-effective HC administrative support to employees and managers at particular business units with the MultiChoice Group. This includes administrative activities and service delivery along the whole HR value chain (incl. talent acquisition and management, capabilities, employee relations and culture need and priorities).

 

Key Accountabilities:

Execution of People Strategy

 

  • for the execution of HC programmes and activities initiated by the HR Business Partners, e.g. talent acquisition campaigns, bargaining agreements, learning and development programmes, etc.
  • operational support for ER/IR issues including grievances, disciplinary hearings and terminations
  • employee engagement activities such as surveys administration, gathering employee feedback, etc.
  • with HC business partners on recruitment activities such as scheduling interviews, assessments, etc.

 

Operational Delivery

 

  • the administration of HC operational activities in multiple HC disciplines for the entire employee life cycle (i.e. recruitment, on-boarding, off-boarding, L&D, Talent).
  • the administration of HC on-boarding documentation including employment contracts, offer letters, personal information forms and all other relevant documentation
  • customized HR reports, dashboards and metrics to suit business requirements
  • and socialise business/employees on all HC Ops processes relating to HC systems
  • data integrity and org structures in line with standards / budgeted headcount
  • day-to-day support to HC Business Partner and Business equally
  • HR operational issues/problems for business unit and liaise with Centers of Excellence and HC Operations where necessary.
  • support and coordination of all HC related programs (Training interventions, performance review process, Disciplinary hearings, EAP, etc)
  • and resolve customer enquiries and requests for service support in line with the relevant programmes.

 

Governance

 

  • adherence to all integrated internal control systems (including policies)
  • and review HC risk plan
  • compliance to all HC related legislation
  • and provide required HC documentation for audit related matters.

 

Stakeholder Management

 

  • good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with different Business units in order to help achieve the goals of the organisation.
  • with stakeholders to keep them informed of the work of the Human Resources function and to identify changes in the Business Units.
  • and maintain effective working relationships with business unit managers and employees and work closely with them to implement solutions to meet their current and future business needs
  • as employee advocate when involved in the design and/or implementation of HR programs

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Degree in Human Resources
  • Grad in HR or related will be an added advantage

 

Experience:

 

  • minimum of 2 years working experience in an HC environment
  • of 2 years’ experience in Recruitment process and deep understanding
  • high level of confidentiality
  • Communication skills (Written and Verbal)
  • stakeholder project facilitation
  • of relevant Centers of Excellence’ solutions to address key business challenges
  • and comprehensive understanding of Human Resources concepts and principles
  • and experience of the business and its intricacies
