Job Summary:

MdM is hiring a Humanitarian Access and Safety Officer (HASO) for its Damboa base. The HASO will ensure the implementation of safety and security protocols, daily security monitoring, stakeholder engagement, and team training in close collaboration with the Base Manager and the Access & Safety Manager in Abuja.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor, assess, and report on security conditions and context

• Train and brief teams on security protocols

• Liaise with local authorities, military, and humanitarian stakeholders

• Develop access strategies and ensure safe implementation of field activities

• Validate staff movements and coordinate travel logistics

• Maintain safety kits and manage incident reports

• Ensure security tools (satellite phones, radios, first aid kits) are updated

• Produce security reports and updates

Requirements:

• University degree in Social Sciences or related field

• Security management training is a plus

• Strong skills in risk assessment, negotiation, and safety protocols

• Fluent in English, Hausa, and Kanuri (writing, speaking, reading)

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel

• Experience working in volatile or high-risk environments
