About role:

Incumbent is responsible for all aspects of the Fragrance portfolio. The primary objective of this role is to develop plans and execute projects to support both the short and long-term marketing strategy for the Fragrance portfolio.

 

You will generate customer insights, product strategy, collaborate on go-to-market strategies and create and execute campaigns to drive product growth. You’ll work across the entire product lifecycle, from helping conceptualize the product, to driving launch and commercialization plans, to growing product adoption post-launch. You’ll work closely with our cross functional departments, such as Marketing, Sales, Finance, Supply Chain and New Product Development, to ensure alignment with overall brand goals.

Key Accountabilities:

Budgets/Financial Tasks

  • Responsible for managing the brand budget efficiently, allocating resources to achieve maximum impact.
  • Drive, lead and take accountability for the budgeting process, control of A&M expenditure and achievement of financial targets
  • Prepare budgets in conjunction with the Marketing Management as follows:-
  • To prepare annual sales forecasts by SKU, by month, according to history; present trends and economic situation.
  • To control A&M spend against budget and to ensure that all costs are within the set budget.
  • To prepare a revform for all promotions before launch to establish the feasibility of the promotion.
  • Develop and implement pricing strategies that ensure healthy profit margins and competitive advantage for the Portfolio

Brand Management

  • Formulating and implementing comprehensive strategies to enhance and promote the brands identity
  • Brand Positioning: Establishing and maintaining a distinctive brand image to differentiate it from competitors in the market
  • Brand Communication: Developing and maintaining consistent brand messaging across all communication channels to build a strong and unified brand voice.
  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM): Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers, addressing concerns, and ensuring a positive consumer brand experience
  • Market research and Analysis – Conducting continuous research to understand market trends, consumer behavior, competitor activities, trade attitudes, areas of opportunity and problems to make informed decisions.
  • Regularly evaluating, monitoring and analyzing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and performance metrics to assess the effectiveness of brand strategies and initiatives
  • Brand Performance Reporting: Providing regular reports on key performance indicators, market trends, and the overall health of the brand to senior management

Portfolio Management

  • Using insights acquired both internally and externally to accurately assess market potential for new product introductions and/or renovations of existing products
  • Managing and taking the lead/accountability in driving the New Product Launch process together with the relevant stakeholders like NPD, Demand Planning, Regulatory, Sales and others
  • Analyze sales history by product, pricing, profitability, including format mix to establish lines to be discontinued/retained and calculate lost sales implications resulting from discontinuations.

New Product Launches/Promotions

  • Planning and executing effective product launches and marketing campaigns to drive brand awareness, sales and market share gains
  • To assess and propose to business advisability to develop and/or adapt Internationally available fragrance trends to suit local market requirements.
  • On approval, to prepare all relevant documentation with regards to new launches and work closely with Finance Departments regarding costing, ensuring viability and profitability of launch.
  • Prepare Stage Gate documents and PDR’s for International acceptance of relevant new product launches in S.A.
  • Generate creative ideas and innovative promotions that will grow basic business and launch new product lines to achieve maximum impact in the market place
  • To have constant contact with Operations to ensure promotions/launches are executed on schedule and problems/opportunities are identified and communicated across the various Departments. Ensure that the below Operations departments adhere to the following:
  • NPD: Revforms are received timeously, Bill Of Materials is requested and codes are created
  • Planning: Raw materials and components are ordered in time to meet the scheduled ship date and any shortages or problems are identified and the necessary action taken. Continually monitor and report on the out-of-stock situation.
  • Demand: Ensure that forecasts are loaded and monitor the ETA’s with regards to both promotional and basic stocks to ensure timeous promotional ships and to minimize out of stock situations.
  • To develop testers and P.O.S. material for consumer and trade promotions and, lialise with suppliers to ensure that merchandising and other relevant material is delivered timeously.
  • Compile presentations and present concept to the sales force, i.e. trade presenters detailing the product, merchandising, pricing, deals, sales targets, timing, samples etc.
  • Implement and Control merchandising for Fragrance portfolio.
  • To co-ordinate Special Events, Incentives, Displays and Joint-promotions for Fragrance promotions.
  • To assist RDM’s/ADM’s with materials/items required for special events.

Agency Relationship Management

  • Provide creative direction for brand/ portfolios strategies and manage agency outcomes
  • Brief agency timeously on projects to ensure sufficient planning time is received by agency.
  • Give clear and comprehensible guidelines and expectations from concepts.
  • Ensure that projects done by the agency fall within the allocated scope of work and budget thereof.
  • Reporting on the performance of marketing campaigns, gaining insight and assessing against goals.

Education and Experience:

  • Matric
  • B.Com, BA Marketing, IMM or Vega Degree
  • Minimum of 3 years Marketing experience
  • Experience with multi-national corporate reporting requirements
