Job Description.

Parts of the target assemblies are made from exotic materials like Tantalum and Tungsten, with other components made from more common engineering materials.

The target Manufacturing facility also covers work on new innovative projects, R&D and precision assemblies. They are now seeking a manufacturing technician to join our team.

They offer you the chance to use your existing skills and learn new technologies for producing ISIS targets.

Responsibilities.

  • Manufacture a variety of components and build assemblies using conventional and CNC machines.
  • Use novel techniques and processes with exotic materials such as Tantalum and Tungsten.
  • Worked on engineering projects, including accurate machining and precision fitting with specialised.
  • Techniques and high-tech equipment. In particular, the use of Electron Beam Welding, EDM technology, and inspection tools (training will be provided).
  • You will be expected to manage and follow a production schedule, including organising outside contracted companies and specialised internal sections.
  • Collaborate closely with the Target Design Group to find solutions to Manufacturing problems.
  • Developing techniques to manufacture and assemble targets with associated equipment.
  • To produce procedures and reports to provide quality documents and to improve production methods.
  • Work on own initiative to research and develop new engineering methods and future machine upgrades.

Requirements.

  • Recognised apprenticeship and be qualified to ONC/HNC level in a Mechanical Engineering subject area or hold equivalent experience.
  • Post-apprenticeship experience in any of the areas mentioned above would be advantageous.
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to learn new skills and processes.
  • The ability to communicate at all levels, technically and non-technically, is important. Good written skills involving record keeping and competence in using Microsoft office.
  • Calm and methodical approach to work, with a desire to see jobs through to completion. The ability to take ownership of assigned projects as part of a team or on personal initiative.
  • Knowledge of the health and safety issues associated with an engineering environment and an interest in solving engineering problems.
  • Willing to work in a radiation-controlled environment.

Essentials.

  • Minimum of ONC or equivalent in a mechanical engineering subject area. (S)
  • Full mechanical engineering apprenticeship, or equivalent, ideally with experience in the industry. (S&I)
  • Have a good understanding of fundamental mechanical engineering principles, such as machining, materials and assembly (S&I)
  • Able to interpret data and produce written documents and reports. (S&I)
  • Able to interpret engineering drawings. (I)
  • Good interpersonal skills, particularly in communication and contribution to team motivation and problem-solving. (I)
  • Work on own initiative to research and develop new engineering methods and future machine upgrades (I)
  • Knowledge and experience in following health and safety legislation in the workplace (I)

Salary: £31,931 a year.
