Company Description

They are seeking a competent, motivated attorney to help our company grow and scale as we continue to deliver financial products and services that improve consumers’ lives across Canada.

You will lead the commercial legal work and may also provide support for product development and regulatory matters.

This role reports to the Chief Legal Officer and can be located anywhere in Canada (as we are a fully remote company!).

Tasks

• Provide timely, concise, practical, and actionable legal advice
• Draft, review, and negotiate many commercial agreements, including complex arrangements with banking, processing, and technology partners
• Work closely with our Revenue and Enterprise teams on structuring and documenting strategic partnerships
• Draft and develop standards for contract templates
• Develop and implement processes for efficient operations surrounding contract lifecycle management and legal workflow
• Provide training on NDA review and manage escalations
• Provide support to Enterprise and Third-Party Risk Management initiatives.

Qualifications and Requirements

• 6+ years post-qualification experience as an attorney practicing in Canada (either in-house or at a law firm)
• Contract negotiation and drafting skills (with a bias for succinct and clear language)
• Ability to drive results and coordinate multiple stakeholders
• Understanding of financial services (e.g., payments, consumer lending, card issuing, and prepaid products)
• Knowledge of emerging and innovative payment technology
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
