About the Role
The Caledonian International School in Edinburgh is looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Mandarin Teacher to join our team for the upcoming academic year.
You will be responsible for teaching Mandarin to our high school students (Grades 9-12). Our goal is to make language learning exciting and accessible. We are seeking an individual who can foster a positive and supportive classroom environment that inspires students to learn about both the Mandarin language and Chinese culture.
Your Responsibilities
- Plan and teach engaging Mandarin lessons that are clear, interesting, and effective for high school students.
- Adapt your teaching style and utilise various activities to help every student learn effectively, regardless of their initial skill level.
- Track student progress through assignments, tests, and class participation, providing regular, helpful feedback.
- Work with other language teachers to improve our school’s language programs.
- Keep parents informed about their child’s progress through report cards and meetings.
- Help create a safe and respectful classroom where students feel comfortable and encouraged to participate.
Qualifications and Skills
What You’ll Bring:
- Proven experience as a Mandarin teacher, especially with high school students.
- A university degree, preferably a Master’s, in Education, Chinese, or a related field.
- Complete fluency in Mandarin and a strong command of English.
- Eligibility to teach in Scotland (or a teaching qualification that can be recognized).

Salary
- £22,066 – £45,345 per year. The final salary will be based on your qualifications and experience.
