Seequent

The Company

Seequent builds world-leading subsurface software, helping create a better understanding of the underground to ensure a better world for all.

We are constantly evolving at the forefront of technology to transform how geoscientists work, eliminating barriers to understanding the earth’s challenges by connecting teams with the answers they need.

Every day, our staff in 25+ locations worldwide help our customers in 100+ countries to develop mineral resources more sustainably, design and build better infrastructure, protect the environment, source renewable energy, and help resolve historical challenges such as groundwater contamination and ageing infrastructure.

Our integrated earth modelling, geoscience data management, and team collaboration software enables our customers to see a more complete picture of the earth: because with understanding the underground comes better decisions – for people and the planet.

Headquartered in New Zealand with global reach, Seequent is the subsurface software company within Bentley Systems (the parent company). Together, we are helping build a more resilient world.

We’re a high growth, people-centric success story.

Seequent is a Bentley Systems company, working together to build a better future.

The Role

We’re seeking a skilled Development Platform Engineer to collaborate with engineering teams in crafting an internal platform using cloud technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS Lambda. This platform will serve as the foundational infrastructure for deploying cloud-based applications and services. The role involves working closely with local and offshore teams, fostering a DevOps culture, and contributing to the development and maintenance of cloud infrastructure and product deployment processes.

The goal is to support Seequent’s growth in providing world-class applications and cloud services, emphasizing repeatable, secure, and automated cloud infrastructure management. The position also focuses on implementing infrastructure and configuration as code, designing extensible processes, and enhancing release and deployment processes for the expanding range of offerings.

We seek a passionate individual who aligns with our culture and is eager to contribute to a fast-paced, successful business with an exciting future. If you’re ready to make an impact, we want you on our team!

Please note, this role is a hybrid position to be based out of our Christchurch office.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Work with the Development Platform Engineering teams to develop, maintain, and enhance a self-serve infrastructure platform that allows for easy deployment of our applications and microservices.
  • Manage our systems and key cloud infrastructure (Kubernetes, MongoDB etc.) using Terraform.
  • Develop consistent, secure, and repeatable processes for managing cloud infrastructure for existing and new projects.
  • Assist development and operations teams in modernizing our infrastructure.
  • Work with development and operations teams to improve the management of existing infrastructure by developing and maintaining repeatable, consistent, and secure automated processes.
  • You will help design, develop, and maintain a self-serve platform that allows development teams to deploy their services easily and without extensive knowledge of the underlying cloud infrastructure (e.g. Kubernetes).
  • You will provide extensible solutions via easy-to-use toolsets and pipelines to development teams, thereby promoting a DevOps culture across engineering.
  • You will demonstrate a willingness to research and implement new and innovative tools and techniques for our DevOps processes.

In order to be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A university degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical expertise in real-world DevOps roles.
  • 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in DevOps.
  • Robust experience in Azure and/or AWS.
  • Proficiency in cloud and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with Terraform is an asset.
  • Solid understanding of GitHub.
  • Proficiency in at least one CI/CD tool like GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and methodical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • In-depth knowledge of DevOps culture and best practices.
  • Highly motivated to deliver work to a high standard.
  • Capability of working independently and collaboratively within a team.

Research shows that some individuals, particularly women and underrepresented groups, are less likely to apply for jobs unless they meet every single criterion. If you don’t think your experience perfectly aligns, or you don’t tick all the boxes, please don’t rule yourself out! Seequent is committed to hiring a diverse team and encourages individuals of all background and abilities to apply.
