About The Role
Reporting to the Fleet Manager, on a 2 year fixed term, the Specification Writer will work alongside Subject Matter Experts to prepare, develop and update material, with guidance, for incorporation into Company publications or those where Babcock has been identified as publication sponsor, while developing knowledge, experience and skills.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Review work specifications associated to a planned maintenance period with a specific focus on Breakdown jobs. Work Specifications meet quality, regulatory and accuracy requirements as stipulated by OEM publications, Standards and Books of Reference.
- Prepare, develop and update of material, with guidance, for incorporation into Company publications or those where Babcock has been identified as publication sponsor
- Amend and create standard activities as required by the DOCAMEND MMA process and iaw PSI 5.1 Managing Configuration Change. Standard activities accurately reflect the task and the system / equipment to be maintained. That all associated standards and drawings are referred to within this document.
- Support the production of one-off preservation and regeneration packages as required. Preservation and regeneration packages include accurate instructions to preserve, regenerate and keep alive for all systems and equipment.
- Provide for health, safety and environmental (HSE) compliance within areas of responsibility. All HSE policy, processes and procedures applicable to the Estimating division comply with statutory HSE legislation, regulations and codes of best practice and are adhered to by workers.
About You
As an experienced Specification writer, you bring a wealth of knowledge in engineering and safety systems, as well as technical database and maintenance management systems. With a background in engineering or trades positions, you’re well-prepared to contribute to our team’s success.
Your comprehensive communication skills, both written and oral, facilitate effective interactions with colleagues and stakeholders. You thrive in high-pressure situations, consistently delivering quality work even under tight deadlines. Your adaptability and innovative thinking make you a valuable asset to our team.
Collaboration is your forte, and you work seamlessly within a team to achieve our desired results. Your knowledge spans across engineering and configuration management practices, and you have a solid understanding of engineering safety systems.
Time management is one of your strengths, allowing you to efficiently handle tasks and meet deadlines. Your analytical skills shine through in your report writing, and you have a keen eye for accuracy and attention to detail. Your knack for documentation and record-keeping ensures everything is well-documented.
