ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT
WASTEWATER TREATMENT OPERATOR 1
Primary Function:
This position is responsible for the operation of the mills wastewater treatment system during weekends and while filling in for the Wastewater Treatment Operator 2 position.
Basic Requirements:
- Must be able to perform this job safely and promote safety as a number one priority at Otsego Paper.
- Utilize a computer and related software as required to aid in evaluation of data accumulated from investigations, trials, testing and our operations.
- Work with all mill personnel as needed to ensure compliance with Otsego Papers Environmental policy.
- Maintain a professional office, lab and waste treatment area.
- Supports Environmental Compliance Supervisor (ECS) with non-routine Engineering Department tasks as directed by ECS.
Job Procedures and Requirements:
- Operate the waste treatment system for water quality compliance for NPDES permit conditions.
- Complete all sampling and run appropriate analyses to comply with the NPDES permit, and other analyses that may be required.
- Investigate reports and respond as appropriate to product and chemical spills.
- On call for waste treatment and environmental issues.
- Recommended to possess NPDES/SWP3 operator certifications and other certifications as required.
- Assist Wastewater Treatment Operator 2 in environmental document retention for the NPDES permit.
- Tank farm and sludge press area management.
- Utilize sludge press technologies to optimize operations in correlation with providing support/assistance to the wastewater treatment operator and ECS as needed.
Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
