Job Overview

The Team Lead, Payments will be responsible for driving the strategic execution, innovation, and management of Transaction Banking products such as collections, ePayments, liquidity management, and trade services. This leadership role ensures alignment with business objectives while maintaining regulatory compliance and optimal customer satisfaction across the bank.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic direction for product development and lifecycle management of Transaction Banking offerings.

  • Manage and oversee Escrow account operations across all business units.

  • Drive product reviews and upgrades to ensure solutions remain competitive and customer-centric.

  • Ensure swift issue resolution and effective stakeholder engagement to minimize customer complaints.

  • Manage relationships with regulators, billers, and mandate owners (e.g., FIRS) alongside Relationship Managers and TB TSS teams.

  • Lead strategic alliances with service providers to expand and strengthen the bank’s transaction banking services.

  • Oversee bank-wide compliance in transaction processing and ensure adherence to SLAs.

  • Deliver product training and awareness programs to staff and clients.

  • Track and report industry trends, competitor behavior, and provide market intelligence for improved strategy.

  • Monitor team performance and provide coaching and mentoring for staff development.

  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of the team’s performance to the Head of Transaction Banking Product Development.

  • Drive achievement of KPIs including revenue and turnover targets.

  • Enforce the bank’s information security policies and maintain confidentiality of entrusted information.


Educational Requirements

  • Minimum: First Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or any related discipline.

  • Preferred: MBA or advanced degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.


Experience Required

  • At least 5 years of overall banking experience.

  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in Transaction Banking solutions deployment, including collections, e-payments, liquidity management, and trade products.
